LET RESULTS: September 2024 Licensure Exam for Teachers (Elementary and Secondary Levels) List of Passers

SEPTEMBER 2024 LET RESULTS RELEASED: PRC Announces Passers for Elementary and Secondary Levels

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), through the Board of Professional Teachers (BPT), officially released the results of the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) on December 13, 2024. The release came exactly fifty-one (51) working days after the conclusion of the examination, which was conducted nationwide on September 29, 2024.

Out of a total of 44,002 examinees who took the exam for the Elementary Level, 20,025 successfully passed, translating to a passing rate of 45.51%. Meanwhile, for the Secondary Level, 48,875 out of 85,926 test takers made the cut, resulting in a 56.88% passing rate.

However, the PRC disclosed that the results for thirty-four (34) examinees are currently on hold pending further investigation. These cases are under review for possible violations of the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations in the Philippines.

Nationwide Examination Coverage

The licensure exams were administered in a wide network of testing centers to accommodate aspiring teachers from different regions. Among the key testing hubs were Metro Manila (NCR), Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, and Zamboanga. Additional centers were also opened in locations such as Tuguegarao, Pagadian, Bacolod, Lucena, and Antique, as well as more remote provinces like Batanes and Romblon.

This broad distribution allowed thousands of examinees from across the archipelago to participate, reinforcing PRC’s commitment to accessible professional licensure.

Composition of the Board of Professional Teachers

The administration and validation of the LEPT were spearheaded by the Board of Professional Teachers, headed by its Chairperson, Dr. Rosita L. Navarro. She is joined by Vice Chairperson Dr. Paz I. Lucido and board members Dr. Paraluman R. Giron and Dr. Nora M. Uy. These experts in the field of education are tasked with maintaining the integrity of the licensure process and ensuring that only qualified individuals join the teaching profession.

2. The Role of Review Centers in LET Preparation
Review centers have become a major part of a teacher's licensure journey. They provide structured programs, access to practice tests, and motivational support. Many passers attribute their success to enrolling in reputable review centers that specialize in LET preparation.

3. Trends in LET Passing Rates Over the Years
Historical data show varying passing rates depending on the exam cycle. Factors such as exam difficulty, curriculum changes, and examinee preparation levels all contribute. The September 2024 results showed a modest passing rate improvement compared to previous years, especially at the secondary level.

4. Top Performing Schools in the LET
The PRC is expected to release the list of top-performing schools and topnotchers shortly after the results. These schools often maintain high passing rates and are recognized for excellence in teacher education. Graduates from such institutions tend to perform well, boosting the schools’ reputations further.

5. What Happens After Passing the LET? Next Steps for New Teachers
Once a candidate passes the LET, they must take an oath as a licensed professional. Following this, many apply for teaching positions in public or private schools, while others pursue further education or specialized certifications. Registration with the PRC and issuance of a license card are also required steps.

6. Challenges Facing New Teachers in the Philippines
Even after licensure, many newly minted teachers face real-world challenges such as adjusting to classroom dynamics, handling administrative tasks, and dealing with limited resources. Continuous professional development and mentorship programs are crucial to ease this transition.

7. Updates on the K to 12 Curriculum and Its Impact on Teaching
The ongoing reviews and revisions of the K to 12 curriculum directly affect the LET. Teacher education institutions are required to align their programs with updated competencies, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped to meet current educational standards.

8. LET and the Global Demand for Filipino Teachers
Filipino teachers are increasingly in demand abroad, particularly in countries like the United States, Thailand, and the UAE. The LET serves as a benchmark for teacher competence, and those who pass often use it as a stepping stone toward international teaching careers.

9. PRC's Digital Services: Streamlining the Application and Result Retrieval Process
The PRC has improved its online services through the Licensure Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS), allowing examinees to register, schedule appointments, and access results digitally. This modernization effort is a boon for applicants in remote areas.

10. The Ethical Standards for Teachers and Their Role in LET
Ethics and professional conduct are key subjects in the LET. The exam ensures that aspiring teachers understand their responsibilities not only in academic instruction but also in shaping values and behavior. Those found violating ethical standards during or after the exam may face suspension or revocation of their license.
